James Michael Riley (Mike)

James Michael "Mike" Riley of Aston, PA and Lehigh Acres, FL, passed at age 78 surrounded by his wife and children on November 25, 2022. Born October 31, 1944, Mike graduated from Sun Valley High School in 1963. Mike served in the US Coast Guard between 1963 and 1967, achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. He was stationed on a rescue ship, the Matagorda, for 18 months and in Saipan for 13 months. After his time in the service, Mike worked at Westinghouse until 1982 and then spent the following 24 years in Planning and Quality working with Chinook helicopters at Boeing. Mike shared 52 loving years with his wife, Ruthann (Humphreys) Riley. Together, they raised 3 children in Aston, PA. Mike was an active member in the American Legion, serving as Second Vice and Chaplain for Post 926 in Aston. He also served as Secretary for the Aston Golf League for 12 years. Upon his retirement in 2006, he and Ruthann relocated to Lehigh Acres, FL, where Mike was an active member of Post 323. Mike was a proud father and grandfather of 8, who brought him so much joy and happiness. He also enjoyed many activities, from bowling and golfing, to winning at trivia and completing daily puzzles, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies. A frugal and shrewd man, Mike was quick to offer advice on spending and saving but also was generous in times of need. His innate talent for planning carried over into family meals, which were always served with everything coming from oven to table, piping hot, at the exact same time. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry and Helen (Higman) Riley. Mike is greatly missed by his wife, Ruthann; children, Jim (Beth) Riley, Tom (Trish) Riley, and Apryl (John) DePaolantonio; grandchildren, Gary, Anna, Zach, Jamie, Kayla, Cara, Zoey, and Liam; brother, G. Patrick (Beverly) Riley; and brother-in-law, Jerry Humphreys.
